Transcription: When the Romans fought Celtic tribes in Gaul, they also encountered their Germanic neighbours to the north and east. The Rhine and the Danube became the Empire's frontier as the warlike Germans resisted the Romans with guerrilla tactics. Most Germans were farmers living in small hamlets or farmsteads and mainly raising animals. Many houses included a section with stalls for the precious cattle.
